Meet my Mom, Alicia Almanza. She is a 16 year survivor of Adenoid Cystic
Carcinoma. Recently she had to tell me that her cancer has spread to her
lungs, and there's nothing more doctors can do for her. She traveled to
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas. and was sent back home.
They had no treatments to offer her. There's very little research being
done on ACC , because of how rare it is. My Mom doesn't have a choice on
what type of cancer she has, but should have the same shot at a cure
than anyone who suffers from any type of Cancer. I decided that we had
to do something. With many dedicated friends and family ATTACK ACC was
born . All of the money raised will be sent to the University of
Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center. They are one of the few Cancer
Centers in the United States that have dedicated themselves to doing
research on Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. We are very excited to be hosting
our 2nd annual 5 mile fun run/walk tournament on
Sept. 6, 2008. Everyone is welcome.
